Dr. H (4 of 4)

Dr. H (3 of 4)

Both sides families of the family came down to Loma Linda to attend the graduation ceremony and stayed at our house. Lunch was at Peking. We also cooked way too much food and me being the "selective" eater, Viks has eaten majority of the leftovers for the whole week :-( Posted by Hello

Dinner at Dusita

Met up with Mel, Diana, Jenn S at Dusita for dinner. It was great to catch up with them! They made fun of the fact that I ordered Pad-see-ew again. The fact is, ever since college I have always ordered Pad-see-ew (with chicken) whenever I go to a Thai place. What can I say, I love Pad-see-ew :-D

Back in SJ for the weekend

In Bay Area this weekend..I went to Lisa's wedding this weekend. I'm so happy for her and Jack. While I've only met Jack once before (at my wedding), I can tell he's a good guy and will take good care of her.

My sister and Nick hadn't see Episode III yet. Hence, an opportunity was presented here! Seeing Episode III on celluloid (aka film) was cool but on this next go around I just -had- to see it the way George intended. While DLP is not yet mainstream in movie theaters, Century 22 is one the few in the Bay Area that has it. We fandangoed the Sun 10:40AM showing and good thing too since it was a sold out showing in the morning. The very cool thing about Century 22 is that it is the only commercial theater in the Bay Area as of today that features the Christie CP 2000 2K res commerical DLP projector. For those interested, here is pdf link on the attributes of 2K DLP.

Later in the evening I had dinner with Eric, Ivy, Josh, Geoff at Palace BBQ in Sunnyvale. I love the short ribs there and especially having Eric cook it for me. Jason met up with us after dinner and we got a brief tour of at Apple and played ping pong & pool in the game room.

Pat on the back for George

Saw episode III with Viks last night..WOW! Thank you George! Usual minor criticisms of some bad dialogue / acting aside (which I am being nitpicky cause it wasn't -that- bad), I came out of the theater happy. I was not only suprised by how impressive the visuals were but the pacing of the movie was better than I & II. The film was also more polished and emotionally satisfying than the first two ..although still lacking the emotional resonance of Empire. Fans of the classic episode IV will surely notice and appreciate the connections...John Williams' symphonic soundtrack always fantastic as usual. Anyone want to see this with me again? :-) Posted by Hello

Quiet Saturday and new wedding picture URL

The house is getting somewhat tidier with furniture slowly trickling in. One of Viks' bridesmaids is getting married this weekend. So it's role reversal for Viks as she is a bridesmaid and in San Diego now doing bridal party stuff.

I'm trying to wrap up on our guest thank you cards so we can send out early next week. Man, my hand is getting tired!

A new wedding URL from my wedding photographer, Kurty Wong can be viewed HERE.

Settling in

We drove back to So cal right after to move in my stuff, unpack, and just plain settle in. With the house in disarray, it was like pebbles in our shoes. Many people have asked when/where the honeymoon is gonna be and our weasel our way out response has been "not sure.." or "maybe sometime in June." But as of today we still don't have a location in mind. It's by no means a crisis or anything. Our stance has been to not go on a honeymoon somewhere just for the sake of going. I know many people feel a honeymoon should occur immediately following but I feel Viks and I have always been utilitarian.

I haven't been on IM too much with all the unpacking & cleaning.. being in So Cal has resulted in being away from many good friends in Nor Cal. For the near term I am flying up on alternate weeks to come into the office but there is chance that as time progresses I may only come up on an as needed basis. Don't get me wrong, I am ecstatic to be married but I guess time will tell how I will feel about being away from people for long periods of time. I know it is not uncommon for married folks or even non-married couples to be "anti-social" but I certainly hope to not fall into that category. However, should I fall into that category, I would hope that my friends will care enough to tell me upfront and very bluntly if required how he/she feels about the situation. I think many of my friends are pretty private about things..myself included..but it's nice that many more are blogging..definitely makes it a lot easier to share events in your life even if they are not your innermost thoughts. There is no substitute for conversation.

I do

Most people who spoke to me the days / evenings before knew how stressed / grumpy I was .. I knew going in that many things would not go as planned.. Murphy's law.. But on the day of, it was like pages out of a fairy tale..and I realized why people go through all the effort and put up with all the pain and suffering of wedding planning. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here are millions courtesy of some amazing friends:

Many thanks to all guests who traveled from near and afar to join Viks and I on our special day. And special thanks to the wedding party (Jim, Ed, Ir, Jeff, Ellie, Selina, Sarah, Connie) as well as Alice, Sabrina, Diana, Jenn S, Kevin, Josh, Eric, Ivy, Danny, Janice, Mike T.. dear friends who graciously and patiently put up with my totalitarianism ;-)

As the DJ was packing up he had told me a number of people approached him during the reception asking him what music was playing. For those interested, I had requested the DJ to play specific tracks from the following films,

Spider Man 2
Armageddon
Finding Nemo
13 Going on 30
My Best Friend's Wedding
Serendipity
Pearl Harbor
Beautiful Mind
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Garden State
The Wedding Planner
Meet Joe Black
Moulin Rouge

An exception was a B-side cover of "Unchained Melody" performed by U2.
